World’s largest grassroots movement for action on climate change
Earth Hour UAE is the biggest environmental event of the year. It's a time to connect with family, friends, colleagues, neighbours and even with people you don't yet know, in celebration of our natural world on 24 March 2018.
The symbolic act of switch off happens at 8.30pm on 24 March. But there is more you can do beyond the hour.
Why not make a promise to protect our planet every day of the year?
Our natural spaces in the UAE are filled with beauty and wonder, and are home to some species not found anywhere else in the world, but they are at risk.
In just a few decades, the UAE switched from having a traditional economy to massive and rapid urbanisation. The result has been a wide range of challenges and threats to the nature as well as to humanity.
It's easy to forget how intimately connected we are to our natural environment - how our health and well-being depend on the land, the oceans and the creatures they support. We are all links in an extraordinary chain, and from the air we breathe to the water we need to survive, all the essentials of life depend on the strength of this interconnection. This Earth Hour in the Emirates, let's get back in touch with our roots and show the world what it really means to us; it's time we all reconnected with the Earth.
Connect with the natural environment of the UAE and attend one of the Earth Hour events that are taking place across the Emirates. In this Year of Zayed, let's inspire everyone to protect our planet.
